Can't Get Platesetter in Canada - Brisket Ready To Rock

My local authorized dealers are very little help.
- Enquired weeks ago about a platesetter and they said they were expecting a large order of accessories very soon.
- Called today and now - "no idea when they are coming."
- Called two other dealers. They said they haven't had them in a while and unsure if/when they will get others.
- Called another website listed dealer and he had no clue why they were listed on the website.
That's 4 dealers - my next dealer would be beyond the 100km radius. Found one three hours away but says he won't ship it.
How can I get a platesetter? Will costco get them? :-)
If I can't get one - can I do a brisket without it?

order a spider and a ceramic stone from ceramic grill store. Will have it in a few days. The stone will be your heat deflector and you can put a drip pan on top of it. Or, look into an adjustable rig set up. A lot of the eggers on here pass on the platesetter and go with one of these setups. Me, I love my platesetter.
Good louck.

Are you talking about this? http://www.ceramicgrillstore.com/big-green-egg-large-adjustable-rig.htmlDoes someone have one in Ontario? -
I say the Woo3 is closer to a platesetter than a spider because the spider lowers the stone into the egg, where the Woo3 keeps the stone at the same height as a platesetter would be.
The spider and the Woo3 both work great, but with the Woo3 you get raised direct grilling which is a pretty useful option, and somthing the platesetter does not do.

Perhaps you should have inquired instead of enquired. Hahaha )Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

Did you check across the border for dealers, i cross the border here in niagara once a week and buy all sorts of stuff.

Shish how do you reply to an individual comment. Fat fingers.

If you go to the London area there is a dealer in Delaware, outdoorchef.ca , I bet they will have one. I bought my egg from them and found them to be great to deal with.

I was hoping to buy in Canada, but you're right. Prob no issue getting one in Detroit. -
I'd second Ontario Gas BBQ in Toronto. They have a HUGE selection of BGE's and accessories. I've orderd and had stuff shipped several times. Good luck.

Get the spider and the ceramic stone form the Ceramic Grill Store. I live in Ontario and had it delivered in a couple of days. I have a platestter but use the spider setup more often. The ceramic stone is also a great pizza stone.

I was hoping to buy in Canada, but you're right. Prob no issue getting one in Detroit.I live in Niagara on the Canadian side and I wouldn't think of buying egg stuff in Canada. I get it all in the US either by mail or direct buy. Got my Xl in Buffalo and it was $500 cheaper than in Canada.

Yup -
The Adjustable Rig looks pretty cool. How does that compare to the plate setter?I find the Ceramic Grill Store website maybe one of the most confusing websites I've ever been on. They could really explain that a lot better...

I agree, at least for newbies

You can do a brisket without it but you need two levels, one for the drip pan and one for the meat. You can use split firebricks or a drip pan full of sand or P gravel for indirect. If you don't have a second grid you could run some small angle iron, or something, across the firegrate to support the drip pan and put the grid on top of the panSteve

Little Steven thank you for all you did at Salado. Lots of happy campers my friend. You have an Egg ready when you make the Texas trip.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.
