Any eggheads here from Halifax NS? Also what is the best place to get lump charcoal in Halifax? I get royal oak from Walmart and Maple leaf from Rona but maple leaf is expensive compared to royal oak.
Cheers!
Shawn

Hiya - Dartmouth Grilln' girl here.
Sparkling Pools has Basques Natural Lump in stock year round.
Made from sugar maple and some other hard wood.
Nice stuff.

Had a roommate in College who was from Cape Breton. I guess that's not really Nova Scotia though. At least that's what he told me. LOL. He was Sara MacLaughlan's (sp?) cousin he was. Loved his rum.

Hi Shawn,
Sparkling Pools And Spas sells their Basque Charcoal for $23.99 for an 18lb bag. I have used the BGE Brand, Royal Oak, Maple Leaf and the Basque. I find the Basque to burn much hotter than the other brands and it seems to have larger chunks in the bag. How Long have you been grilling? What size egg do you have?

I like basque when no maple leaf available but like the flavor that you get out of maple leaf a lot better! I get my Maple Leaf charcoal for $17.00 for 8KG bag! I also like mixing it with a bit of basque to make it easier to light when in a hurry! $23.99 a bag for basque is not a bad price for retail. I strongly recommend Maple leaf as no 1 for competing and basque no2 and royal oak as no 3! You can read lots on the different lump charcoals here:Cheers!Cheers!
