Preview doesn't show the attached file or that there is a file attached. And did I just see that there is a "preview" button when you start a new thread that opens a little pop up with the preview, but if you post a reply, you have a preview tab that shows a preview in the text box?The Naked Whiz

Again..... Yes, I did see that. And when posting a reply, the actual preview doesn't show the file attached, the file is still located down below at the bottom of the blue box. So again, preview doesn't show you what the post will actually look like. The Naked Whiz

So, to sum up, Preview for a new discussion and preview for a reply appear differently for no apparent reason, and neither one shows how the post will actually appear since they don't include the attached file in the preview. The Naked Whiz

Testing posting with a link to a hosted photo:
[img]http://lovenlaughter.smugmug.com/photos/1222443649_8ZVxE-M.jpg[/img]
It's a valid link, but obviously the tags don't work.
So how's this done?
One must use HTML <*img src="IMAGE_URL"> tag. -
Test hosted image and check the preview

just add the code for the image:

looks like you may have copied the code from the old forum which adds the "[/img]" to the end.

Nope - didn't copy anything. I know that different forums use different syntax. I just tried a couple and found that the HTML <*img> tag works. It would appear from your various posts that simply pasting the URL for the hosted image doesn't quite get the job done - at least not in a couple of your posts. Don't know, just know that the img tag does.

Nope, pasting the URL of a photo does NOT work.
TNW, like SRQ said above, use <*img src="IMAGE_URL"> except take out the *. -

Yep, just vanilla html. The forum still needs some primer type of guide to tell folks how to do things so they don't have to experiment. The Naked Whiz
