I am new to the Egg world just last week I purchased my BGE at the NE Fest! So here I am STUCK at 320 degrees, how do I get it to 500 degrees.

Open the lower vent and the Daisey Wheel......the temp should rise dramatically after a few minutes. Watch it tho.....if it gets away from you, it's a lot harder to bring it down than it is to make it rise.

There are a couple of things you can try - if you haven't already:
1. Open the bottom draft door completely.
2. Remove the dual function metal top.
3. If the temp is not starting to come up, open the lid for more oxygen.
If you're just getting started, it's possible you didn't load enough lump. Regardless of what I'm cooking, I'm always between the middle and top of the fire ring. What type of fuel are you using? BGE lump?
With enough fuel and oxygen, you won't have any problem screaming past 500.

I think he must be OK. we had emailed back and forth and i told him all the tricks LOL and a wiggle stick and so far nothing else so he might be set. was trying for pizzas and could not get the temp up. met him in NH

Using BGE lump and cleaned out the BGE, both top and bottom wide open not at 475. Thanks Maineegg and all of you that replied!

i am thinking it is a typo and you mean "now" at 475? LOL just yell if you need more help
