New Downloads for my Free Cookbook.

The files were huge and Drop Box suspended my account but it is back up (for now anyway).

I've added a few more recipes, reordered the book to allow for blank pages for you to paste your own recipes (should you decide to print it out).

The FASTEST access is to CLICK HERE which will open up a Photo Bucket album of individual pages (the lower quality jpegs but fast access.

CLICKING HERE to download a 80 Mb version great for web viewing (printed copies will be lower quality pictures).

CLICK ON THIS LINK to download the full 166 Mb download which prints beautifully.

I'm still looking for alternatives and ANYONE that knows how to put 286 Word Documents into ONE document would solve the file size issue permanently...

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I have just uploaded a self-extracting archive of the file to my website, which you can find by going to the cookbooks page. Right now, Norton will label this file a threat, if you can believe it, not because it scans it and finds a threat, but because of some BS rating system they use based upon the anonymous input of millions of their users. I've submitted a dispute and hopefully Norton will no longer label it a threat. I have downloaded it and scanned it with Norton and Norton says it is fine. Sigh.......

But anyway, the compressed file on my website is 37 meg which is only slightly larger than the previous version of the file.

Thanks TNW , I scanned it too in norton and it was fine. They go too far sometimes but I've never had a virus get to my system with them for years so I guess the good goes with the bad.

I really need to question why you continually "promote" your FREE cookbook...I have no less than 20 free cookbooks on my website, as does TNW...while your efforts are probably commendable, it does seem a bit overstated on the forum...not meaning to sound negative...but the forum does in fact have a recipe section..on top of all the other cookbooks that have been compiled and shared for free...
  • You could create pdf files with Adobe Acrobat and put them all in one file. If you create the pdf's with Acrobat, they are very small files.

No Dropbox has my account shut down for three days again. There were 974 downloads the first day and another nearly 1000 attempts yesterday and today. I just go their email, last warning and I have to move to a pay for bandwidth service. Sorry. I'm still working on a smaller version. Try the naked whiz's link on my blog he has the next to last version out there is a zipped format about 30 Mb.

The pages can be viewed on Photobucket individually in this album link which should work fine.

you can save all these to individual PDFs by printing to a PDF file from within Word.

Then, if you have adobe acrobat (and assuming you have the files all named with something that will make keeping them in order fairly easy), you can combine all into a single PDF.

even further, you can 'reduce file size' from within the PDF itself, with settings for which version of adobe's PDF reader you want to support. Supporting later versions only will save a good chunk of file size.

    that's a start, anyway

seems to me your pages are all bitmap? not just the pics? if you had the text as vector info, and the pics themselves were maybe 150 dpi max, you could keep file size down. 150 dpi is fine for your purposes

Actually I have always used word to create the pages. then i save them as PDFs and create a binder in Adobe Pro. WHen you reduce the file size the photos pixelate. It is the same thing I did when I created the original the only difference is that I switched from 2003 to 2007 for word files and used some graphics with the photos and the pdfs got huge.

I have saved these documents in Photobucket as Jpegs for posting here and for viewing in Photobucket albums. there are no bitmaps or tiff files involved.

I'm open to suggestions however. It prints like a million dollars on a high end laser printer, rivaling any published book I own. Unfortunately the file size is as of today about 16 Mb for 290 pages. Thanks Stike.

  • I've seen a few posts on this cookbook but cannot seem to find it anywhere. Seems I read somewhere a while back it was taken down and no longer available? Can someone confirm (or reconfirm) for me? Im trying to start making some healthier food choices and this book was recommended to me. Thanks!

Print each recipie in the order that you want them to appear to a .pdf writer (I use Primo PDF and it works great). Once you print the first file and name it, save each subsequent file to the same file and "append" it. You'll end up with one large .pdf file complete with pictures that should be a significantly smaller file size.

Can SOMEONE tell me what the work around is for doing an original post now?  I get a message saying it has been submitted for review and return to your forum and they NEVER appear.  I haven't been able to post for months.  Please advise...anyone.  I can comment, obviously, just not post...Thanks.
