Update on Tel-Tru Therms for BGE Large

I spoke with my local dealer today and he confirmed that he had placed an order for the new therms (Tel-Tru) and was told that they were available from BGE. They are supposed to arrive locally in about a week. So, for those who are interested, it appears that they will be available through dealers shortly, and later from BGE......FWIW.

They can be had from BGE now.

Didn't know that, Crimson. They were saying that they would not sell directly to the public until sometime in April. Good to know. Already ordered from my dealer, so I'll wait for his stock to arrive. I do appreciate the info, as I am sure that others who are waiting for them do as well. Thanks.

I'm just trying to figure out who referees that arguement during football season!! Crimson vs Gator!!

I purchased one from my dealer today. $28 plus taxLarge & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

Same stem length as stock BGE therm?
-
Yes, same length as original BGE. I think it's a nice middle ground vs the 2 1/2" or 5" off Tel Tru website.Large & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

I also called Tel Tru this morning and they stated it was the exact same quality as any of their other thermometers they sell but Green Egg wanted a specific length stem.Large & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

Thanks for letting me know, Wildcat. Look forward to getting one. Have you tried it yet? Notice much of a difference?

The bullgator wins.....always

It would have been nice if, when I called to order the LT 225R last week, if they would have told me about the new replacement. But instead, upon telling them what I wanted it for, they chose to take my order for a 5 inch stem model which requires a one inch spacer outside the dome. Live and learn.....oh well.....what can you say. The LT 225R, by the way, sells for $20. The price on the new ones --- now BGE original equipment --- bears an increased price with a shorter stem. Go figure.
-
Gotcha!! Well, only about 5 1/2 mos. to wait.
-
I can get you 10 of them in Salado for $750 each and they will toss in a one day old demo large egg :laugh:Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Such a deal!!
-
Like this? BGE has been selling them for a few months now.
-
No they have not. You just photoshopped that just to make us all jealous :P
-
Have you not left yet?
-
You said you were going to bed :P

They are made in Rochester, NY and you can get them directly from the manufacture's web site.

Im in the same boat. I recently bought a 5" stem from Tel Tru. I like the shorter stem BGE version better. Like you said, "oh well". I have not used it yet but I'm sure it will be the exact same as an original tel tru.Large & MiniMax in Lexington, KY

Taking a minute to read the posts would let you know that ordering direct from Teltru is not the issue.
Teltru makes a 4" stem model custom for BGE that is not sold (at least at this time) to the public direct.
It can only be purchased from your dealer or direct from BGE Atlanta.
I have a couple of the 5" stem models from Teltru and they are great but "if" I could have purchased a 4" I would have.Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
funny, very funny...

Hey Photo Egg, where did you get information about the new tel-tru BGE thermo not being available to the public?
-
Well........Got my 5 inch stem LT 225R from Tel-Tru this week......and my dealer got the 4 inch Tel-Tru BGE therms in his shipment today. I bought 2.....one for a backup. You might say that I have "more degrees than a thermometer." Or more thermometers than Mr. Tel-Tru. Anybody need a therm??
Oh, also added a nest handler for my large. It does make it a bit easier to move around. I figure I've got more in the Egg than I do in the house. So, I might sell the house and move into the Egg!!
