A Little tjv, a Little MickeyT, and a Lot of Molly

Steal from the best, I always say. Poor boys generally do. In preparation for Salado, it was time to spruce up the Historic Molly-Mini. There is a long story that goes with this one.
First, tried to raise the grid, which I hope I did with some 1 1/2 strap from the Depot. Next, since I've been using a New Mexico Rock for a Daisy Wheel, I thought I'd employ a bit of MickeyT technology. Test comes later tonight, so there may or may not be follow-up pics.
Thanks Tom, Molly and Mick. Tom: Check is in the mail, ...well, nearly.

Trial run was good. Still fixated on the Tots thing, though...It'll probably keep me up at night....And I sure do need my beauty sleep...Not all of us are as fortunate as Leroy and Chubby.

Oh sorry,
JJ was one of the old hands (he passed a few years ago) anyway on top of the good advice and encouragemant he offered, he is well known for a particular variation of a rub, which I still use today. I really like it on chicken which I sprinkle on the day before barbecuing.

Very Cool!

Now if you make a sliding cover for the hole in the middle you will have a great top.
I have made very similar tops for my large and small and I think they are 'perfect'.

Thanks, I get it now. Great recipe!

Great idea. I will!

Yep, I'll do some more modifying soon. I was just playing with stuff I had on hand. Nice!

did you drill a hole in the chimney flue to anchor the sliding mickey-T damper?ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
DING! DING! DING!... You Win!!!! I was wondering who would be the first to declare the sky is falling. For what it's worth, I did a high temp burn before cooking on it. I'll probably die just half as quickly now.
Yep, that ol'Mini has more patches and band-aids than you can imagine. I didn't think much harm could be done. Just used a little Dremel-like pointed stone. Cut the prettiest little hole you ever saw.
Mike -
I just eyeballed the size of the hole.
I think it is about an 1" on the large. -

The aluminum flashing on the outside prevents the top piece from coming off yet the 'finger' reliefs in the side of the flashing makes it easy to remove the wood top piece.

Spaceman Spiff thanks for the info
