Big Green Thermometer in my Big Green Egg

My thermometer came in today. I enlarged the hole with a masonry bit on slow. I drilled it from the front then the back so as not chip it out. It was still a little tight, so I ran a Dremel around the hole till the probe fit. Because I didn't bulkhead mount it, the probe doesn't stick in any further than the original one did.

am I missing something? Tel-Tru make thermometers that fit the 'eggs without having to drill. I have one on my mini.
Large, medium, small and a mini. Egg'n, golfing, beer drinking, camping and following football and baseball.

Yeah, you're missing the fact that the replacement models are the same size as the original. I wanted a larger face (the largest) so that I can monitor my overnight cooks from inside the house. -
