I posted I BBQ'd some plums last week. I did another batch the next day (only posting about it today) and they turned out much better. This time I added a bit of cinnamon to the brown sugar. They still tasted very "BBQ'ey"/"smokey" (to me) even after several hours of a "clean burn". Must be the plums really suck in the charcoal flavour.
Served them with ice cream. Everyone really liked the taste of the plums. Could be I was overly sensive of the BBQ taste, looking for it and all, because no one said it was over powering.
Anyways, it was all good, you should try it out. All I did was low heat, 300ish, raised grid for about 15 minutes or whenever you think they're good to go.

Looks good. As for the smokiness, may be you want to try different lump? I noticed you got a smaller after market grid; I salvaged two similar grids from an unused Brinkman; also its water and charcoal pans for holding used lumps.

Thanks Gary. I think it must be "just me". No one else noticed an over powering smoke taste (or they were just being polite...haha) .
Either way...I though they were very tasty! I'll do more as long as the neighbour's tree keeps producing. -
I would try indirect after a LONG clean burn. The residuals in an egg can be funky as in when baking. One day I will have an egg that does nothing but bake and grill delicate stuff like fruit. Try a CLEAN BURN.

I love fruit on the grill. I've done apples, plums and peaches. Sometimes a little maple syrup, sometimes DP pineapple head. Sometimes cinnamon and brown sugar. All wonderful. Unripe bananas can be good too. And pineapple slices brushed with rum and vanilla can't be beat.A whole new world when you make fruit.

Oh yeah...the rum and vanilla on pineapple is pretty freaking great! Note to self....do another pineapple. Soon.

Rum plums?

If you were here right now, I'd "high-five" you.

That "after market grid" is his O-ficial homemade raised grid!
good job Jasper! I was thinking about trying to do a pie with plums.
also we had people over last night and I didn't think of grilling some fruit. wish I had, that would've been nice!
