Hello everyone, I bought a 8lb. brisket from Wal-Mart, and i laid the whole pkg. on the egg with indirect set-up to check measurements with platesetter, and its about 4inches beyond the pltstr. Should i cut the tip off and cook it on another level? this will be my first one so i don"t want to mess it up. thanks in advance for your help...

check this one it was 17 pounds and it fit without cutting it on my large. All i did was bunch it up in the middle you can kinda see in the pics that it is rolled upwards in the middle.
here it is on a garage opener to show the size

Just scrunch it up and cram it in there. It will shrink as it cooks.
I fit a 16.5# brisket on a medium, so yours should fit fine.

Cover a brick with foil and place it in the middle underneath. check out this page:

flip your V-rack over or use a rib stand and put in the middle of the grate.... the brisket will drape over it just fine.... after about 6 hours it will shrink down enough for you to pull it outKent Madison MS

thanks to everyone that answered, but i was concerned about the edges being exposed to the heat outside of the pltstr..

That must be a long 8 pound briskee,... anyways, protect the ends at all costs. Foil will work for the first 4 or 5 hours, then it will shrink enough that you can remove it.
Here is the same one the next morning.... it never knew I used a foil shield. heheee.
