Will a 17lb turkey fit in a MBGE??

I normally cook on a LBGE. However, last year I found a used medium egg that I bought and took took to my hunting camp 200 miles away. I'm heading there tomorrow, and I have a 17lb turkey that I'd like to take along to cook on the medium, but not sure if it will fit. Anyone ever cook one that big on a medium? If so, how did you set up the cook?? Thanks!

I have gotten some 15 plus a little more in there. maybe try spatchcock and pull the legs in and tie them?

Go to BGE Website. They have turkey sizes for each of the different Eggs.

Thanks, Jules. I'll haul the bird up there, and if I can't fit it in whole, I'll spatchcock it and cut off each hind quarter and cook it that way.

Rich-Thanks for the tip. The factory says that an 18lb turkey will fit.

that might have been the small egg I squeezed it on. I know it was a larger bird than the site said...

I believe I squeezed a 17 lber into my MBGE once. It completely filled the interior but cooked O.K. except I over smoked it with wood chips. I learned to not use any chips with turkey although that is my preference. Also seems like keeping the temp stable was a little difficult as the heat wasn't able to circulate like it should. Bottom line, it can be done but I try to purchase smaller birds 12-15 lb range.
