Substitute for curry powder?

Recipe calls for curry powder and I don't have any Anybody have a quick substitute? Thanks

Any or all of the following: Turmeric, corriander, cumin, saffron, fenugreek, cloves, ginger, celery seed, mustard seed and garlic. Oh and red pepper like cayenne.

I think a curry is just a blend of spices. Steven has a great suggestion....just get a little creative!

Yes curry powder is a blend. They vary in ingredients just like garam masala.

OK, well since it already contains cumin coriander and a few other spices, I'll just add a little red pepper and call it a day. Thanks.....

I didn't understand it when someone first told me. I was sure that if I went to the grocery store I could find a little Tones container that said curry.

Then I started to research myself and found that Lund was right! Also learned that what I grew up with as chili powder was just a mix of ground chili's, cumin and a few other things.

I've come a long way from Mom's tuna and noodles!

There is a leaf called curry leaf but you don't see that in Indian cuisine much. More Thai Penninsula, Malaysia and Indonesia.

That's it man. So many different mixtures out there, so be creative and work the flavors around your dish. Don't forget curry leaves! And coconut milk is a shoe-in if you're making a sauce.
