its not the whole band, its just the small clip shown with one hole in it that needs to be bolted on at the handle bolt. small piece of tin metal with a slight bend and one hole that bolts on to an existing location securing the dome lip to the band, you might need a longer clinching stud where it bolts to the band and handle. ive gotten away without one, but ive used the egg for years before going high temp and knew what to watch out for, they are only needed for high heat extended cooks
