The top and bottom gaskets on my Egg stuck together tonight and when I opened it up they both pulled away from the edge. I don't know if it got too hot (I was cooking pizza) or if something just got stuck between them. I was hoping to get more than two months out of the gasket before replacing it.

    Tim:

If you can salvage the gasket, carry on. If you can't don't worry about trying to replace it (just yet) you might just find that you can cook without it. There are many members that cook without a gasket.

There have been several posts indicating the best procedure to release a sealed gasket. Do some searches on the forum and I'm sure you'll find the best way to do it.

I’m due for a replacement too…Although mine lasted for two years!
Seems that as long as the dome closes tight (no gaps caused by a hanging hinge) is still does fine with out a gasket.
It’s just a matter of not having that cushion between the ceramics that bothers me a bit.

It's not really salvageable. Lifting the lid stretched them out of shape. I was able to cut the two apart, but it was already too late by then. It's sort of cobbled together right now, but won't make a really tight seal. I'll just wait and see what happens.

Tmc, if you do end up replacing it, it's no big deal. I did mine myself on my 2 week old mini.

My 13 year old Large still has the original gasket!!!

    Good luck.

I did drop them a line yesterday. I'll see what happens. A possible wrinkle is the fact that I'm a canuck Egger.

Why did it have to happen eventually? The original gaskets on both my eggs are great, now well seasoned, and will be lasting me a while. Going on on two years now.
