Is there a way to calculate the internal temperature using the dome temperature? I know it would just be an estimate. If not, what brand of internal thermometer do you reccomend?

Not sure exactly what you mean by internal but I assume meat temp. There is no way to calculate that that I have ever heard. I use a CharmGlow wireless that I got a Home Depot. Had it for almost two years and I use it a lot. Still working great

If you have a Lowes near by they will have what you are looking for. I bought one there about 2 years ago and it still works. May be able to get one in the 20 to 30 dollar range. Or you can order one online.

Thermapen.

If you mean grate temp, that's about 20 deg. less than dome-but it varies.
you can get a maverick ET-73 for overnighters where it reads out both the meat temp and the grate temp.http://www.partshelf.com/maet73.html
if it is just the internal temp of the meat that you're interested in- Thermapen! yeah it may be expensive but it's dead-nuts-on accurate and instant read. I wasn't too sure when I sent for mine but now I can't imagine cooking without it! -
Sorry everybody, I was meaning to ask about the difference between dome temp and grate temp.
