I have been using the Lump Reducer for my XL for all cooks. When do I NOT use the Lump Reducer ? It seems the temp goes up to 550 and that is it. Next week I plan on doing more than 2 rib eyes. Do I not use the Lump Reducer ?

I have a BGE-XL.
I bought a lump reducer that works great.
A BGE-small for my smaller cooks.
A lump reducer is like using a furnace to heat your house that is 50% smaller.
You're going to have a cold house.
Remember the internal volume of the BGEXL has not changed just like the sq. footage of your house has not changed. -
Don't use the reducer if you are doing a low and slow such as a butt or a brisket you will need a lot of lump to last the entire cook. 550 dome is probable hot enough to sear a lot of steaks.
