Moving an XL Egg
Dut
Posts: 81
I'm trying to find that contraption that folks recommended for moving an Egg. I have a XL that I'm going to need to move for my new table and that sapknocker is some kinda heavy. Any way for 2 folks to move it without a visit to the hernia doctor or Egg dealer to replace a broken one?
I plan on taking the dome off and just move the base of course then reassemble.

I also recommend removing the fire box and fire ring and even then get someone to help. Not as much weight but cumbersome.

I plan on doing that. Probably even wash it to make sure i get that extra half ounce of dust off of it too. I'd hate for the wife to hurt herself moving it but I'll be right there with the moral support and supervision.

It is not that bad empty. My wife helped me move mine in.

I would Remove the dome, fire box and fire ring this will bring the weight down to an easy manageable weight.

Do not use that pot lifer for your XL? It's rated for less than 200 pounds and will not expand wide enough for the XL to be lifted properly.
Find your self 3 or 4 strong hungry neighbors and after removing the inside get them to assist you.
I am sure there will be others that disagree with me, but I am going to remind you what could happen if you aren't cautious.
Yes that was an XL. Please note the gasket is still intact!! -
What a bummer. :( Thats one reason why I would do it the old fashoned way.

I put my XL in a table by myself and assembled it.
It is not that bad.
The bottom is heavy, but with the vent opened fully you have one really good hand hold.
Paranoia may require an extra person to assist.
