I am looking for input on what kind of string people are using to tie up their meats during cooking. I have heard different things nylon string or cotton string etc... Also where to buy string and about how much does it cost?

With help from google... food safe butcher's twine is made from FDA approved 100% biodegradable cotton.
I get mine from the local grocery store.

I may get flogged for this but I use just regular 100% cotton string from Wal Mart like to tye up veg. plants. I do rinse it out in warm water and squeeze dry in a paper towel.

I will be inline with you for the flogging.... hard to find up home and I was at the hardware store and just said OH WELL.... LOL :(

just ask your butcher even if in a grocery store..they'll usually give you some no charge..

Same here.... Whatever suitable, cotton twine I can find.
-
I also get mine from the butcher because I can't find good old butcher's twine.

We found butcher's twine at Fleet Farm!

I saw these in a local distributor's store and found them intriguing, sooo Had to buy them. I have not tried them yet.
Have any of you tried them? Reusable cables to wrap food.
Was I sucked into something that really doesn't work well?
