26* will be the high today---time for DO Roast!!

It will be a chilly day here today--a high of only 26* and a low of 17*. I decided to cook a nice roast in the dutch oven. Set the medium up for indirect cook, hooked up the digiQ II and set it for 320*. In about 6 hours I'll be warm and toasty!!! (I'll have a nice bottle of wine with the roast to help warm me up)!
Here are some pics!!

BHE1.....What liquid did you add to that? I've never done one of those in my egg but might try it on Sunday. Any other info I need to know?

Brian,
1 1/4 cups beef broth
1 1/4 cups chicken broth
1 1/2 cups water
This is the second time I've cooked this; the first time turned out awesome. Here is the recipe, wish I could take credit for it but Grandpa Grub posted it originally.

Hope you try it this weekend--you'll love it.

Hey Ed! Thanks much. I don't own any cast iron cookware yet (hoping to get some for Christmas) so I thought I would have to wait until after Christmas to do cooks like yours. Then I saw a guy on the forum the other day using the insert from a crock pot for a roast. I immediately informed my wife that I'll be needing to borrow her crock pot insert this weekend :woohoo: .
Thanks again for the info.

Looks good, nice to be waiting for something warm and tasteful, I've just put a brisket on at 200* dome & stable ..plan to take it out around 10;00 PM and take to some friends party...will post later. All the best!!
-
Think you need to bump that dome up to 250 then.
At 200 it will never get done. -
Really??? Pete??? even if I just go up to 190* internal??
-
Really 200 dome is around 170 grate.
Brisket gets done at 195+ Tough to make 195 if you are cooking at 170.
Unless you meant Centigrade in which case I would lower it some.. -
Pete I've got it on the raised grid. Temp higher up there isn't it??? What temp would you suggest??
-
250 Dome, Indirect. Drip pan!! Fat down.
At 165 internal, foil it and put it back in fat up. Cook till it's 195.
You can remove the Point, if it's not a flat, at this time and put the point back in the egg. Wrap that foil back up and put it in a cooler for at least an hour.
This method was recommended to me by a guy who consistently places in the top 10 in Brisket at competitions. I listened!! My last comp brisket did a whole lot better.. -
TKS. Will follow it thoroughly!!
