Anyone tried JH pecan rub or would that be too sweet? Also, how do you all make your popcorn? Store-bought in the m/w or from scratch with corn raised for popping? Oil, butter or both? Thank you!!
  • In our house Tsunami spin goes on just about everything except ice cream. Try Jamaican Firewalk on popcorn.
  • You want to try something good on popcorn- Maple syrup!

The real stuff. We used to take the kids to a local place that did a maple sugaring demo for a few weekends in March every year (that's when the juices are flowin!)
and they used to serve popcorn with maple syrup as a treat at the end.

Like Coke and pulled pork or cumin and shrimp - popcorn and maple syrup are two things I never would've thought of putting together if I hadn't tasted it first.
  • do you just drizzle it on the popcorn? messy to eat I bet.

As a kid my Mother used to treat us with Popcorn Balls about the size of a softball, which were held together with maple syrup. Sometimes she even added food coloring. Some how they dried and were never sticky. Boy were those tasty!

you need to boil it more, til it's at the soft ball stage i think. like caramel.

the other thing is to drizzle it (after boiling it to the hard ball stage) over fresh clean snow.

  • My mom used to make popcorn balls for halloween. I think she used Karo syrup. Don't remember a maple syrup taste.
  • Yeah, just drizzled it. a little bit goes a long way. Wasn't messy but it could be!
