drip pan size

I'm using a medium Egg with plate setter and 9" drip pan. This pan works for chicken on a vertical roaster, but I am worried that it won't catch all the drippings from ribs or larger meats. My medium baking stone is 12", and a 12" pan would fit perfectly in the plate setter, but would cover part of the opening. How large can I go without hurting the Egg's performance?

I say go with the smaller one. As long as it catches most of it you are fine, no big deal.

The legs of the plate setter already restrict some of the airflow. I wouldn't block too much of the remaining open area.

I would go with the larger one.
I normally use a round pan that fits on the spider inside the large, and the spacing is less than 3/4" between the edge of the pan and the edge of the firebox.
You aren't going to restrict airflow with a drip pan unless you have to wedge it in there tightly.
