I'm happy I went with BGE!

When this journey started, I was drawn to the Grill Dome. I didn't have a dealer near me for a BGE, and read so many great things about GD service and, according to the website, it was a bit less expensive. In reality, I'm sure I would have been happy with any ceramic cooker. I'm just kind of happy that I didn't buy into the 'words', since it seems the 'reality' is very different. Here's where my journey took me. I emailed GD some questions, and planned on placing an order that week. I did not get a response, so I called and left several messages. After no response again, I posted a message on the board. (yes, I'm a member) Once I posted the message, I got a response that the owner was in India at the manufacturing plant and would be back in a few weeks, but everything was fine, and the service was stellar. OK, a few weeks passed and I've never (to date) recieved any correspondence to my email or phone calls. I also found out, thru the board, that the website prices were out of date, actually $100 lower than actual. That put them at the same price as a LBGE, since you have to buy the daisy wheel top and thermometer seperate. So, fast forward, there are a few poor souls, that have gotten cracked GD's sent to them, and are trying to get things worked out, and I'm sure they will. But, being a business owner, it surprises me the standpoint that the owner of GD takes in responding on their message board. Here's a link if anyone is interested. http://www.grilldome.com/Flash/forum.html I was going to say I'm just glad I decided on the BGE, but I think I'm really saying I'm glad I passed on the GD.

Thanks for the post. In my long and winding road to ceramics, I looked seriously at the Grill Dome. Found the company EXTREMELY unresponsive. I was absolutely unwilling to order sight-unseen and GD dealers are nonexistent in my neck of the woods. I'm very happy with my MBGE!

Welcome to the club...you won't regret ur decision. I got my LBGE as a Gift from the spouse. When I found out how much it cost I had an anxiety attach....but since I have been learning how to cook on the Egg and had no failures (you can't beat the quality of the food that comes off of that rascal) the cost was soon forgotten.

Another advantage is this forum....ask any question and ur sure to get help from the Eggsperts.
