Just want to do some simple chicken drumsticks and breasts smoked with hickory and some BBQ sauce. Should I use the plate setter or grill direct? What temp and how long?

Are the breast going to be bone in or boneless?

If you are going to use any kind of dry rub pull the skin back and give it a dusting then pull the skin back down.Wait for about 30 minutes and put the drumsticks on the grill. After 20 minutes put the breast on if small or 30 minutes if they are large on the grill and let cook for two hours.Paint your chicken with the sauce and cook for another 15 or twenty minutes. When the internal temp of the legs reach 180 they are done.Remove and cover for ten minutes. Then it is time to chow down.

Oh crap. I meant small breast goes on after 30 minutes of cooking and the large goes on after 20 minutes of cooking.Time for a beer run.Talk about a-- backwards.

Bone in. Maybe just drummies. On a large BGE.
Cooking temp?
Plate setter or direct? -
Cook indirect with plate setter at 275*.The cook time should be around two hours.

Sounds like a good plan, Stan.
