Rick's Tropical Delight Pizza Question

I did seafood pizza last night and it was great. Chopped shrimp, sea scallops, thinly sliced tomatoes, a very small amount of DP Raging River and a four cheese pizza blend on top of a Boboli crust and alfredo sauce. It turned out very well and was delicious.
Baking the pizza reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask Rick, but I never seem to be logged in when he is. Does anyone know specifically why he uses the little green Egg feet under his pizza stone on top of the plate setter? He posted several pics of his pizzas with this setup a while back and I have been curious ever since. I have always set my pizza stone directly on top of the platesetter. Thanks, Mark.

little green feet or plumbing elbows etc provide space between the stone and the setter to avoid direct heat transfer.....hot spots from the lump below . allows more even heating of the stone by circulating air.
-
that's the theory, but i just do it because i saw t-rex do it and my little green feet were lonely doing nothing :P
-
And I just do it because, well, they seem to fit well there and, like you say, they feel left out otherwise.
In fact, they come in handy in all sorts of configurations:
Happy Feet!

Thanks Rick. We are a small family and I rarely do more than one pizza at a time so I don't have the problem of the stone overheating from doing multiple pizzas. How much snow did you get with this last blast? I woke up to seven fresh inches of the white stuff.

sorry, man. spelled yer name wrong
not just for pizza!

i think i had about 15", but it was hard to measure because of the drifting. there's a 12 acre hay field to the north and it all came to my house becuse the wind was from the north. come on SPRING!

Lucky you again! I hate having to shovel to get to my Egg.
