I found a small Tri tip at Wegmans the other day. We did Dinosaurs Churrasco Steak with Chimichurri Sauce. I know I sound like an ad but I love their cooks. Here's the steak after the Trex sear. Cool I got the grill marks right. Love the cast iron grate.
Here' the final plate with some tuxedo orzo and a repeat of last nights Romaine salad. Also some Giada Brussels sprouts with Procuiitto. Not really we used pancetta instead
Darn I dripped oil on the placemat. But the background is better.

Looks great.......T¨Rex´s recipe all the way?.......

More Like Trex Technique. It was a thinner piece of meat so the Egg was about 600 for the sear. About 60 seconds before 90 degree rotation. So 2 minutes per side sear then rest and finished at 350-400.

Its a nice cut but it is a little chewier than sirloin which is similiar in price. I am not a price shopper but I think in the NY Philly area sirloin is a better deal. -

I bought a bottle of the Woodford's Reserve. Very good. I still haven't tested your use cheap whiskey to cook theory. DrBBQ has a Coke a Jack marinade that I thought I may try with Early Times Whiskey. -
haha...glad to hear you tried the Woodford and liked it!!...I'm sipping on one right at this moment!!.. :woohoo: :woohoo:

:woohoo: Man, that looks great. I am a big fan of everything Dinosaur and always have a big jar of chimichurri sause in the fridge. I put it on all kinds of beast or fowl and love it on vegatables! And it is the best on T-Rex steaks! Man I'm hungry for some now! :woohoo:

Yes -- Tri-tip is a little bit chewier, but what Taste!

Next time try a marinade with equal parts of Balsamic Vinegar and Worcestershire sauce add a teaspoon or two fo crushed mustard seeds.
Marinade for a couple hours and reserve the marinade. Optionally you can give a slight coat of Dizzy Pig's Raising the Steaks.
Roast at 350 dome till medium rare. In the mean time reduce the marinade till it is slightly thick.
Slice against the grain very thin. (thinner slices less chewy). Serve with the reduced marinade drizzled over the meat. -
CW sounds good I'll give it a try, I could kick myself about the slicing I know I read to slice it against the grain just plum forgot. :(
