Well didn't have to rope a cow tonight so got to Egg the bread when I got home. Used the clasic Trex reciepe and turned out great. First pic is when 1st mixed. Second is this morning b4 first punch down (one with Jake watching),third is after 2nd rise, forth pic is puting in the Egg, 5th is bread after 33 min. in Egg with lid on, 6th is bread after 20 min. with out lid on D.O. 7TH is 1 hr rest on forks to elevate it for cooling (wife's idea since we have no bread rack) 8th is cut bread with smoked cheddar I did about a week ago. Tomorrow more bread, St louis ribs and Trex stake. Stay tuned.

This almost persuades me to try baking again. Almost. If I do, y'all better hide the women and livestock...it could get ugly.

DO NOT MENTION LIVESTOCK AND BAKING AT THE SAME TIME! Remember my doing no knead bread couple days ago? lol By the way cow is doing fine.
-
Especially my baking...a real horror show.

Great picturementary! Looks like the bread turned out perfectly. Very nice work. Glad to know that it cooks through just as well on the Egg - I assume you were running at around 475 dome?
Interesting parrot pic - does that guy just hang out while you cook?
Bye-Bye, Bye-Bye,

Bread looks great! I really hoping that my buddy Jake, didn't add any additional seasoning for you. No poppy seeds in this bread, Haha.
So now that duck season is over, how many did you end up bagging? A buddy of mine duckhunts, but is on opposite days off. I'd love to try some wild duck but he won't part with any(he doesn't get many).
I walked out this morning and there were greenheads and specks all ovet the place right off my dock. Yeah, I thought about it. Just not worth the fine! -
Yea, You need to read the morning forum check. Jake always monitors it with me and adds his input! Starting to get a following. Yea 475 temp. As high as "Q" will go. Added couple min. to each step to allow for Egg reheat after poping lid.

OK so when do I come for a visit? This bread recipe is so easy. It is very primitive but very good. The crust is chewie but works well with rich foods. Do not really know how many. My dad is retired and hunted 50 pluse days and I hunted about 15 or so. Have packages of breast fillets and 15 or 20 whole ducks. Hear is last days hunt with dads dog. Who says I never show my face on forum.lol

That looks awesome. I try last week to make this and came out heavy the dough. I think it was because I had no lid for crecuset. I guess I need to find something with a lid. Thanks for your post great inspiration post.

I had the same experience - but it made pretty good bread puddling. After reviewing a couple posts I think I had two problems - no lid and didn't preheat the pan. Trying again this evening/tomorrow with CI DO.

Good Luck and let me know how you make out. I am doing pizza today with a new recipe, so I thinks I will wait till saturday to try again.

You need some kind of lid to create an oven in an oven effect for 1st part of cook. I thank most of the cooking takes place then. Removing the lid browns the crust. Also I didn't show it but I have my 3 "cooking rocks" under the D.O between platesetter and it to create air space and preheat D.O in Egg 10 min b4 adding dough.Good luck!

Also I double the yeast every time.

You guys are killing me with the bread pictures! I guess I am going to have to jump in and give it a shot. It looks great. Has anyone tried adding beer instead of water?

And waist good beer?
