A Question About Dead Chickens
Broc
Posts: 1,398
Well -- I finally cleaned out the large freezer, and unearthed three rather old, very dead and frozen, freezer-burned whole chickens.
I suppose they don't have a lot of taste left in 'em... eh?
What could I use them for... other than stock [I have lots of stock on hand... don't need to make more for a while]?
Maybe, practice butchering....
Then, boil 'em up, separate the meat and mix in the dog food for Bustah-Brown and Tillie?
Other ideas?

Broc,
I say build a big ole sling shot in the back yard and see how far you fire those foul fowl into the other neighbors yards.
Take down the sling shot and if any one asks if know any thing about it, just answer "sure I had one end up in my yard too". People will be talking about it all winter, and as long as you bite the inside of your cheek when hearing about it, only you and I will know.
Honestly, I would just trash em unless you want to practice deboning chickens or chicken parts. -
Yeah -- That's what I'm thinking, too.
I like fresh meat. I like frozen meat. But I don't like dead meat!
About six months ago, we had a freezer chuck full of nothing but good, farm-raised chicken... and the power cord became unhooked...
We wondered where the smell was coming from... thought something had died inside an exterior wall.
No fun! :(

I think tossing it is the best thing to do. Save yourself the cleanup of thawing to play with it. BTW, did you notice that you're an "expert egger" now?

Not far from my house they use a trebuchet for a "pumpkin chuck." My kids love it.

Heh... :woohoo: a pumpkin farm hereabouts has one of them they shoot at targets during Halloween season. Cool

Trebs are definately a fun project.
My daughter and I built a small trebuchet 5 years ago. It was about 2.5 feet tall and had a 4 foot throwing arm. It would toss an apple 80 yards or so.
I made a highbred trebuchet/catapult two years ago. It is 18 inches long, 3.5 inches wide, has a 28 inch long floating arm, uses a trebuchet type sling and a bungee cord for power. It will throw a golf ball over 100 yards. -
Those things are awesome. I've seen them in action, but the closest I've come to making one was a potato gun.

I am really glad to read that other people have this freezer problem. My wife thinks its just me.

you could wait until spring then use them for bait in crab traps if you live near salt water.
