Cleaning stainless steel grid

I have a stainless steel grid that I have not yet used. I'm getting ready to fire it up. I recall reading here that I shouldn't use regular steel tools to clean it due to impregnating it with rust. How about stainless tools or brass? Or should I stick with scotchbrite-type pads?

I been using a brass brush on my and so far so good. Also when the wife is not around I put it in the dish washer from time to time....Just don't tell her. LOL

I have a stainless steel, extended grill that I have owned for a little over a year, but have only used it 5-6 times. I clean it with my Billy Bar and it is not showing any signs of problems.

I never heard that warning....

check the link. Basically, no bleach and if possible use stainless or brass brushes. Stainless brushes can be found at most welding supply houses or some H. Depot or Lowes welding departments. tjv
