Was going to get a small turkey and do a test run this
weekend, but then thought why not try a large chicken
to save a little money, will I get a good idea how
Turkey day will go or is it a case of apples and oranges?

RittmanRod,
I think that you will be fine in terms of getting an idea how the cook will turn out. Of course, times will change depending on size. Chicken is great on the EGG.

RittmanRod,[p]Chicken on the egg is very good. However, the large roasting hens are probably not a good choice. At least I could not get one tender, nor could a couple of other members as I recall.
