Turkey with NO drip pan

Past couple of times I've cooked whole turkey breast I have placed the breast directly on the grate with no drip pan. Honestly, I think the end product has been as good if not better and because the carcass absorbs all the smoke it produces a great smoked stock.[p]With the exception of slow cooks I have moved away from drip pans and had positive results with no flare up.[p]Just an .02

    I agree. There is something great about the drippings hitting the fire and the resulting smoke adding to the flavor of whatever is being cooked. I have never had trouble with flareups on my egg but then I generally cook around 350. Pop.
