Had to upgrade thermometer. Bought  the Egg brand. Gauge is not very smooth. Anyone had any trouble?

    It should be a tel-tru manufactured dome thermo.  I have had great success with them and even the older BGE ones.
    Give it the one-point cal check and you will be good to go.  Search function will yield lots of hits on calibrating the thermo.  FYI-
    Louisville;  "indeterminate Jim" here; L & S BGEs, PBC, Lang 36; Burnin' wood in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win.  Life is too short for light/lite beer.
