1st Time Egger Q in Real Time

Breaking it in right now. Got steaks. BGE lump. Electric starter. Once the coals were good and going, I lowered the lid. Bottom vent open, same with top. 1 minute later I looked at the BGE thermometer....750. Now there's no way it's already at 750. Did I have to calibrate the thermometer?????

Yes, it *could* be at 750. I have hit that temp in 15 to 18 minutes before. Esp, with the electric starter. Be careful of flashbacks!!!!

Well, I don't think that it hit 750 after 1 minute, but NO WORRIES! Steaks turned out a little rare, but an admirable 1st attempt. The BGE rocks! Pic's posted soon, if you care....
Served with a 2001 Pine Ridge Rutherford Cabernet (remember, I'm a wine geek...)
