Options
Anyone cut their own hickory chunks? These are about a year old
Lbge. Maverick 733, ss top, 30" fire pit, gas grill, small charcoal grill, electric smoker, 65 qt yeti, 35 qt yeti.

    Not hickory yet, but may get a truckload on the next run.  I can't get over Cherry.

    Have broke down free apple, mulberry, and cherry.  

    Your hickory is good to go.

    I've cut my own smoking wood (many different varieties including hickory) for the last few years. I've never waited that long to burn it. As @Focker says, you're good to go.

    I store it in milk crates in shed. Just cut half a crate of pecan
