BGE chipped!!! What to do?! Pics attached!

Hi BGE guys! I've had my large for just under a year now and cook on it all the time. Yesterday the BGE gods must have given me some bad luck!
i cranked my egg as high as it will go and left to prep the steaks. I didn't come back for 30 min or so which is longer than I normally do.
when I open up the grill I found the back end of the gasket is coming off! I decide to try and cool things down as the steaks are burning and put the daisy wheel on. The felt starts to melt from the daisy wheel as well! Then this morning I come back to check on it after its cooled and there's a small chip on the top piece of the ceramic close to where the gasket piece is coming off! The chip is very small, about an inch in length and a cm in width. See below.
Here's my question. Should I just go ahead and replace the gasket and get some acetone to take off the gunk from the daisy wheel and leave the crack alone? Or do I need to call my dealer or BGE to fix the chip. I've had it just under a year! I was hoping to do more grilling today. Maybe that won't be happening! I appreciate your help! Also the temp gauge is messed up? I've tried recalibrating with boiling water, it worked one time then went back to the same nonsense.

The high heat melted your gasket and torched your thermometer. You can replace the gasket, there are many options. Many here, including me, have used the Rutland gasket from @RRP. Contact him, and he'll hook you up. You can order after market thermos from many sources. BGE, Smokeware, etc. You can cook without a gasket. Some forum members have been doing it for years. @fishlessman, I think. You might have trouble maintaining temps on low and slows, though.
As far as the chip goes, that's up to you. I don't think it will affect performance at all.Jefferson, GA
