Looks like a washout this weekend - What to cook?

Supposed to rain all weekend here.  Will set up the portable pop-tent on the deck to stay dry but need to decide on what to cook.  Possibly a long cook but dont know.

Dont want ribs (just did them a few weeks ago)
dont want brisket (dont want an overnighter)
Something very good though.

You could do some nice steaks. They are fast and delicious. If pending weather is a concern they would be a good choice in my book. It's suppose to be bad here all weekend as well. Good luck .

Seems like it would be a fairly easy cook if it is raining.  There is some prep work involved but if you have a maverick you only need to put it on the egg, then take it off when it is ready.

I am due for another meatloaf try with the new lump.  Last time I made one it tasted like and ashtray.

Dobie - Yes - Ribs Only every once in a while.  I usually have limited time for a low and slow (Or more than an hour) cook and they dont come often.  I am due for a brisket overnighter but not in the mood for not getting any sleep.  We only got a few more weeks of summer left then my long cooks are gone again until next summer.  Kids keep me too busy (sports) to have time to sit around and cook all day.  If I could I would be rich as my restaurant tabs are ridiculous.  I would rather see my kids doing something they enjoy over cooking.  Last winter I think we used the Egg 5-8 times.  This winter I am thinking of covering it up with a tarp until the Summer.

Ok, as a complete newbie, here is my suggestion. Two items. One tomorrow--spatchcock chicken soup. Rain--soup time--easy heat ups for the weekend, and then seafood on saturday--clams casino or mussels, grilled shrimp or salmon on a salad with grilled garlic bread--lighter stuff.

Do a pork tenderloin , marinated in 6 tbs soy, 3 tbs lemon juice , t tbs garlic and a half cup of honey
Marinate for 5+ hours and throw on the egg

What's wrong with every few weeks? Too often if anything. I haven't done ribs but once in the past YEAR or so. Seriously unhealthy and especially inappropriate for someone like Rob who says he is trying to lose weight.

I got one. Since it's raining we should have nothing to do so I want to cook something. Normally we are running around. I am not worried about he rain.

Chicken Polliards.

Butterfly two boneless, skinless chicken breasts, then pound between Saran wrap sheets to 1/4" thickness overall.  Brine for twenty minutes or so.  Pat dry.  

Sprinkle with a little Lemon Pepper, and even less cumin.  Grill just a couple minutes/side over the hottest fire you can manage.  

Serve on Big plates, with your favorite veggies, and garlic smashed potatoes.  Peach pie for dessert!

OK time constraints and shorter cooking season. Down here we cook BBQ year round and ribs come up more frequently in the rotation. Rain or shine we just keep on chugging along. Given your situation I would go with some high end steaks in high temp mode. Quick fast and seems to fit your needs.

Depends on the source/cut.  I do not care for steaks form the supermarket.  Usually thin and bland.  Needs lots of seasoning to make somewhat taste good.

Now from a real butcher they are worth it.
