Egg Nest

edited 5:22AM in EggHead Forum
Is the BGE supposed to sit on the cross-bars of the nest, or held above it by the side-bars? I have a medium that sits on the bars, but a friend has a large that is held by the side bars and sits above the cross-bars. Unfortunately, the screws for the vent are behind the side bars and it looks like there may be stress placed at this point.

h-m-m-m. He just may have his large sitting in a medium stand?

  • cuppy,[p] Nope, its not a medium stand.

Some of them don't sit on the crossbars and are held by the side bars. I wouldn't worry as long as things are stable.[p]TNW

I'm almost 100% positive that mine sits on the cross bars. But to be honest with you, I haven't really paid that much attention to it.

  • Tony,
My large has been sitting about an inch above the cross bars for the 3+ years I've had it. You can loosen the bolts on the nest and get the legs apart enough to clear (almost) the vent if you want, but mine has been no problem this whole time.[p]Jon

  • Tony,[p]My large also would normally rest with the bottom vent screw against the nest and I diddn't like that, so I used a spare chip of hickory to shim it up to reduce pressure on that screw and all is well since.[p]J

  • Straus J,[p]Good idea, thanks.[p]
