Choice Angus brisket going on tonight

I was in Kroger tonight and they had a choice packer on markdown. It is 13.5lbs and I paid $24 for it. I am experimenting with some new things tonight. Going with DP Raising the Steaks with added pepper. Also going fat side up and cooking at 250 tonight.

Wow! I have a Kroger down the road. I may need to stop in and check the price tags myself. Good snag!

The normal price was $2.99/lb. they had a choice and a select. The choice sell by date was today and I asked the butcher about it. They regularly mark down meat within 1 day of date. He took it from $40 to $24.

 

The select has a date of tomorrow but not sure if I will go back for it

It was a $24 gamble and I thought about that. The seal had not been broken on the cryovac yet but you could tell it had been aging for a while. I am happy with it. Heck it smells better than you and Rod 3 days into a fest  :-)

Damnit man $24 for a 13.5# choice packer!? :-? Hmmmm....bought same size and grade for $42.50 last week. But, if cryovac is good and product looks and smells ok...then \:D/
