mate issue for med BGE

I bought mates for my new med BGE. My lg has them. We took them out of the box marked "med" ready to install. It seems the metal curved attachment is formed perfectly for the lg-we held it up to my lg. The guy at the egg store said via phone that it should fit the med too and to force or bend it. I can imagine that bending it will result in a crease in the metal or worse yet-breakage.

Has anyone else put mates on a medium recently? Did the curve of the metal match up to the egg or did you have to bend it?

They are curved differently for the medium vs the large.  The shelves themselves are the same but the black metal bracket that attaches to the band is different.   Sounds like the box was either mismarked or the brakets were switched out.
