I own a LBGE and have for it
Platesetter Thermapen (non flames)
pizza stone Maverick ET-732
Grid extender (which I could care less about)
Wok (from a yard sale)
Looking for ideas, but nothing too expensive.
I'm thinking I'm ready for CI grid........Craycort?
Tell me what I'm missing

A ?-how do you cook "raised grid, direct"...I find that is a great method for many high-heat cooks...may lead you to something.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Explore the adjustable rig and the pswoo on the above website. Call them and tell them how you cook and they will give you good advice.
Most people seem to like the adjustable rig, but I went with the PSWoo3 and a grid extender and it meets all my needs.

I cook raised direct with some square tubing between the fire ring and grid. Are you referencing the grid extender? I don't care for it because imo it's too close to the grid for when setup to be versatile for different cooks (I can't even get an ear of corn under it). If I put spacers under it for more clearance, I lose cooking space on my lower grid. Let me in on your secrets because I would like to put it to use.

This is how I would look at it.
Need more space: adjustable rig.
More low n slow cooks: check out temp controller.
Want to expand what you cook: wok and/or pizza stone.

I have bought from here and am very happy with the results. Definitely a favorite. -
Thanks for the responses.
Any thoughts on the round vs.oval grid for the adjustable rig?

I like oval but I do a lot of briskest.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
Oval. It's awesome for brisket and ribs. You won't miss the lost "edges" from the round grid and will really appreciate having the oval stone.
-
Add the sliding grids...very convenient.

Adjustable rig is great. I use it for low temp cooks, but it is great for raised direct also. Since you already have the plate setter get the oval stone. The PS is basically a round one with the 3 legs.

Very cool! Thanks for the insight.

By now it's been noted that the oval hardware has been designed for ribs and briskets. The oval grid requires the oval stone in order to realize the intended use of the design. The oval stone requires the oval drip frame. It's a domino effect thing!

I've been dominoing since I bought my egg, so no worries. It's just money.

With the addition of the CGS AR I think I'm now 'there'. The only thing I lack is a BBQ Guru, and really what's the fun in THAT? (Then when you get it, it's 'how'd we ever live without that thing before?'). So. My wife, who also got me the BGE for my birthday, got me . . . a BGE hat! I've been topped off!

Here's some hints to leave laying around: Rubs and sauces and marinades and wood. Not expensive and you might get a 'hit' that will become part of the family genetic code.

Rib rack?
