Was cooking a prime rib last night and wished I had of thrown one more piece of apple wood on for smoke flavor....normally I'd pick a small piece that would fit between the plate setter & fire ring and just drop it in...this time I just stuck a piece into the bottom vent hole....worked great ... didn't last real long but did put out some smoke....

interesting, will try it next time. Maybe wrap it in foil

OK, never tried that, but I will next time. There should defintily be enough radiant heat going down to smolder.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!

Thats a good idea.... -
Thanks for the idea, I just used it today on some turbo ribs and wrapped in foil works great. Has to be red hot on top of the grate to get smoke but I like not having to open the lid.
