Using the Plate Setter

Got a large BGE for Christmas and LOVE IT! I have the plate setter and understand it is good for indirect cooking. My question is what is the best position for a drip pan, if using one? Is a drip pan even needed when using the plate setter? Thanks-

I use the placesetter in the legs up position for boston butts and indirect grilling. Place a drip pan on the placesetter and the grill grate on top. I always use a drip pan and add lots of water/juice because I don't want the mess on my placesetter nor do I want the drippings to burn because I might use them afterwards.
I use the placesetter legs down for pizza.
