Looks like you had a perfect weekend.  Very jealous ;)
  • APL Pork Butt - Pic heavy

I have been dying to try something out of Adam Perry Lang's Serious Barbecue. Pork butts were on sale so it made it easy to decide what I should try :) His recipes are always so involved but they are so worth it! image At the 3 hour mark. image Just before wrapping in foil. image The finished product. Wish I hadn't gone so heavy on the glaze. It didn't firm up like I thought it should. image Pulled and ready for our guests. There was only eight of us and we managed to eat almost all of this 9lb butt. image Capped the meal off with chocolate chess pie and Woodford Reserve ice cream. Great meal and a great night had by all. Thanks APL for the wonderful book. You can find this recipe online here - http://www.adamperrylang.com/recipes/bone-in-pork-but-with-gren-apple-and-crushed-hot-red-peper
  • Re: My first YETI

I knew that you were talking about a cooler in the title.  Yet, there is a part of me that was hoping you had smoked a mythical creature on your Egg.

    Congrats!
  • Burnt Ends

I've been bad at posting but finally remembered to take a picture (didn't happen without a picture, right?).  I was inspired to make some burnt ends after going to Arthur Byrant's in KC.  Picked up a couple bottles of their rich and spicy sauce so I could replicate it.  They turned out pretty well.  The sauce seemed to get better the longer I left it on the egg.
  • Re: BGE Cult Oath

live free with bbq or die.......new hampshire
:D it was just shortened to live free or die.  the gun powder used during the shots heard round the world was taken from a nh attack on the british a week before the formal attack
    :)) nobody heard that
They also changed their name from the Green Egg Boys to the Green Mountain Boys after they took the 'with bbq' out :)
