  • Re: This is probably unlikely but does anyone here not eat carbs?

I can't cheat, it sucks. Also just FYI cauliflower is pretty carb heavy, which kind of shocked me.
Good luck with whatever you find works. Cauliflower is about 1% of daily requirements for a 100g serving, according to our carb counter fridge magnet.  Broccoli is almost twice as much. The really big carb killers I thought were spuds (5X cauliflower), corn (24X cauliflower), acorn squash and even carrots(3X cauliflower).
Depends if you have to stop all carbs or just lighten the intake. Lots of good advice from those on here who are health pros. Again, good luck.
  • Re: Free Cutting Board Give Away

255 - by the way, @DoubleEgger has already qualified if he wins - he just mailed me, at his cost, a wok ring for my MBGE. He would rather see it used than throw it out as he no longer needed it. Amazing folks on this forum!
  • Re: OT: All Good Truants Must Decide

This is what this forum is all about, hell if you want good cooking advice there are lots of places but if you want good cooking advice with the right amount of fun and foolishness, this is the place.

    Welcome back JIC.
  • Re: I hate to say this!!!

As you note you would be foolish not to look at what is out there. Have a friend who drives BMWs, great cars, but he is not my first choice to ask advice about a Beemer, he has never driven anything else. Lately while looking at KJs at ACE, I too am very impressed. The difference in price is similar to the 20-25% you note in western Canada.

  • Re: need help with the medium size green egg

MBGE owner as well, although I think all sizes will bury the thermo needle if you ask them to. Low fire is one of two things, restricted air flow or bad fuel.
As noted already, make sure your fire box is aligned correctly (when you look in the lower vent), you should be able to see the fire grate and all the way to the back of the fire box. Also, make sure the air holes in the fire box are open and that ash has not filled the space between the firebox and the base. Assuming your spark screen is not gummed up, that looks after airflow.

Try a small bag of lump, right from the store, fill your egg to just below the top of the fire ring, start it at the top front and see how she responds. If it heats up, your lump was wet/damp. Find a new dry storage area, which depending on where you live, might be in the garage or the house.
