    For those wanting to try his BBQ, get there early.  Like 8 or 9am.  I've tried several time arriving at 10 only to be told they would likely be out of brisket by the time I got to the front of the line.  I did get to go a fund raising there and the food is really good.  And Aaron seems "real".  But if you don't want to wait for two hours you might try La Barbeque (with Franklin's ex-pitmaster) or John Mueller Meat Market (brother of Leann, who owns La Barbeque, sold Franklin his first pit).  Heck, even Rudy's has great brisket if you know what to order.

    I'm in a similar state.  Doing my second brisket on the egg.  This time I found a choice packer a little over 11 pounds (that was the smallest Choice HEB had).  Put it on last night at 10:30PM.  It is 11AM now.  Egg has been cruising between 225 and 250 since then (my DigiQ helps) and internal temp has been stalled at 160-165 at least since 4AM.  Dinner for 4 is at 6PM.  Should work out just about perfect.  Will be having left-overs for a few days

  • Meet and Great with Aaron Franklin

    KLRU (Austin PBS station) is doing their fund raising.  For $150 they offered two tickets to a meet and greet with Aaron Franklin on July 9.  I scored! I don't know any of the details, but I'm looking forward to it.
