  • Re: OT - Stone Crab Season!

Super jealous. Anyone have a reputable source that will deliver quality product without overcharging? Seems a lot of these companies overcharge because of their popularity.
You can order from Key Largo Fisheries (keylargofisheries.com) or Grimm's Stone Crab (crabsr.us).  Both are reputable and both were affected by Hurricane Irma and would appreciate the business.  Since the season opened I have had crabs from both of these businesses. They were $23.99/lb for the large and were delicious and fresh.

Well, it's been a long week.  My house in Miami okay, Eggs okay, power back on.  Neighborhood and exterior a mess.  Parents' house in Islamorada a real mess, although no structural damage.  They need help cleaning up feet of debris and seaweed from yard and dock.  It's ugly.  At least their home of 35 yrs is ok and their power is back on.  They are so impressed and appreciative of the response and work going on down there.  My entire family, from parents to kids, are on east coast from Islamorada to Jacksonville.  All have power and no one hurt.  There are no words for how thankful and grateful I am today.

We've registered/volunteered. As long as we don't get hammered, we'll go south and help as we can. Bad things ahead of Florida. Please donate to https://operationbbqrelief.org/. Legit group. Thank you.
I know I'm going to have damage, but if BBQ Relief shows up, I'll volunteer and do what I can.  I'm in Coral Gables/South Miami.   Great job in Texas!

Now for real. This CAT5 Irma is a scary b!th looming over Florida like a mean ex that decided keying your car wasn't enough.  Suddenly she appears in a rage wielding a archaeological artifact 64# sledgehammer while screaming "I'm here to fu©k sh|t up!"
This is beyond scary.  I was here in Miami for Andrew and going through it again is very scary.  Going through the storm is one thing...then it's the weeks/months of no power in 90 degree + weather and lots of standing water breeding mosquitos.  I'm so proud to be a Miami native!   :s
