Something similar happened with me a few years back. A friend of my BIL out of the blue gave me a Hobart commercial slicer. Thing weighs a ton and half. Was pretty dirty when I got it, but after cleaning it really good it works great. @hapster you asked earlier how often it gets used. I will say this, it's so big I mounted it to a rolling island thingy I got off Craigslist and then keep in my garage (no basements down here in New Orleans) and keep it covered. It's a little bit of work to clean after use but not too bad. And,,,every time I use it, I cut myself, nothing major but nick one of my fingers. It has a built in sharpener that really really works!! )
