  • Re: Long cook without any type of controller?

    I've turned out some great briskets and pulled pork.  I don't have a controller and can't imagine having one will improve my cooking. The egg is so easy to set up for long cooks I just set it and take the meat off when I know it's done.  In fact, this coming weekend I'll be doing a prime brisket from Costco.  I have ABT's on now and a steak to go on once it's hot enough.  Mmmmm

    To make authentic pulled pork sandwiches you have to use CHEAP white bread buns.  Who makes up these rules?   Next thing you know people will put cole slaw into the sandwiches.  Use vinegar with red pepper flakes instead of barbecue sauce. 
  • Re: Protecting our wooden handles?

    While I haven't done it yet, my wife suggested coating the wood with mineral oil.  She does turned pieces on a lathe, coats them with oil and they don't crack.  Coat it once a week for a few weeks and it will last much longer.  Now where's my oil??
