It doesn’t get much hotter than the EGG cookin’ in July! Make sure to keep yourself hydrated with a bit of whatever you’re using for the Beer Can Chicken. Ice Cream Sandwiches are also a great way to stay cool. Looking for some great ideas for a summer cook out? Try out a Pimento Cheeseburger or Dr. BBQ’s Spare Rib Surprise. Just don’t be surprised if your neighbors stop by for a quick bite when they smell what you’re cooking!

Big Green Egg headquarters has moved - come visit our new showroom and check out the museum and culinary center too! 3786 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30340

  • Re: BGE VS Gas Grill

Whew, at first I thought the troll was back again, but looks like a real thread.

For my family, Egg wins hands down.  Before I got the egg, I had a gasser/charcoal side by side.  I read a gasser was a good as an egg and you could get it up to 550 degrees plus just like the egg for searing steaks.   So I tried it, and it went that high--then all the paint caught on fire and the thermometer melted.

I think one big egg secret is the moisture retention--the gasser does not fog your glasses when you open the lid--the moisture retained in the egg does.

After I got the egg, I passed the charcoal /gasser down to my nephew as I never used it again.  Some egger then asked what my nephew did to make me mad.

  • Ga. Mtn Fest Menu Planning Time

Time to start planning for the Ga Mtn Fest.  This is the best fest and grows every year.  If you are sitting on the fence on going to this one--get off the fence and go.  Stop by and say hello--you can't miss the tiger paw apron.

Preliminary menu (2 eggs, 4+ cooks) looks like ABT's finished with raspberry chipotle pepper sauce; Cuban Sandwiches (this is the only fest I know of that let's you do a low and slow overnight making for a fresh from the egg pork shoulder); and several varieties of thin crust grilled pizzas  (maybe Gamberian (shrimp with basil pecan pesto), Moroccan (curried chicken with roasted garlic and kalamata olives) and some other variety).

Plan on going, see you there.

  • Re: BGE Cook Team? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Jeff:

Thanks for the explanation of how it works.   I have cooked at Eggtoberfest last two years, and I have gone and helped cook at my local dealer (Pool and Spa Connection--Greenville SC).  I also have seen that others here (such as N. Ga. Eggers) go and cook at store cooks.  Was never sure how they are organized--sometimes not well advertised, etc.  But once at the local store here there was the egg truck and one fellow from Atlanta there (but not a cooking team).  You info is helpful.

I will try and stop by and say hello when your group is at the Powdersville Store soon.

Prep work going on here too.  Heading down for M&G tonight and cooking tomorrow--all here welcome to come by and say hello--just look for tiger paw and orange balloons.

Weather is looking great for tomorrow, only 20% chance of something falling on us.
