It doesn’t get much hotter than the EGG cookin’ in July! Make sure to keep yourself hydrated with a bit of whatever you’re using for the Beer Can Chicken. Ice Cream Sandwiches are also a great way to stay cool. Looking for some great ideas for a summer cook out? Try out a Pimento Cheeseburger or Dr. BBQ’s Spare Rib Surprise. Just don’t be surprised if your neighbors stop by for a quick bite when they smell what you’re cooking!

Big Green Egg headquarters has moved - come visit our new showroom and check out the museum and culinary center too! 3786 DeKalb Technology Parkway, Atlanta, GA 30340

  • Re: Georgia Mountain EggFest 2015

Kristi, great write up and fantastic photos as usual. And great to finally meet you and John and to get to chat after all these years of using your recipes.   And thanks for jumping in and helping me serve when my crew wandered off on another food quest!

@yolks--wish I had known that was you eating my Cubans, we gotta address the nametag for board members issue next year somehow.

As always, another great GaMtn Eggfest by John Hall--gets better and grows each year.  Great weather and great crowd.  Nice to see and talk to @necessaryindulgences, Dyal, JRWhitee, Piney, Patty, Jen, North Ga Eggers. Fla Grillin Girl and others--sorry for those I am leaving out.  Got too busy cooking to take pics, but Kristi took a bunch so looking forward to her summary and photo essay.   Plus got to break in two new large eggs for my brother and son in law to take home with them yesterday.   Again, if this is a fest you can get to, this is one you need to get to.

  • Countdown to Georgia Mountain Eggfest--1 Week To Go

Next weekend is what I consider to be one of the premier eggfests--The Georgia Mountain EggFest--great setting and it gets bigger and better every year.   So if you are sitting on the fence, or on the couch, get your rear in gear and head to Hiawassee next weekend.  Stop by and say Hi, you can't miss the Tiger Paw apron and orange balloons.

More info on the fest can be found here:

    http://mountainegg.com/

We will be serving up some ABT's, Cast Iron Skillet Shrimp and Grits, Cuban Sandwiches and Thin Crust Grilled Pizzas.

    See ya there.

  • Re: First Time Eggtoberfest Feedback & Demo Egg

Appreciate the comments.  As Crimson Gator noted, you can ask the cooks just about anything--and if you tell them you are buying your first egg today, we will be glad to share any startup tips.  On the other hand, we stay pretty busy (your long line commnet) so I understand the difficulty.

FYI--the Georgia Mountain Fest in May each year in Hiawassee is a smaller event and you have more opportunity to talk to cooks perhaps.  Also, they have an Egging 101 as one of the classes normally.

If BGE would do it, they should do an Egging 101 class (at end of day) in the parking lot where there is a pickup line for the eggs--that would be a productive use of time while the eggs are being cooled down for pickup and you would have all the new buyers right there anyway.

  • Re: How To Carve A Thanksgiving Turkey

Thanks for sharing--my family laughed at me for watching a video on how to carve turkey.  Let them laugh--the food will be good and now well sliced.
