Agree with little Steven and take the white plastic piece off. We are a dealer and the new eggs are coming with plastic shims to get the bands spaced properly but that doesn't seem to be your problem. Is the top and bottom band in alignment?

3-1-1 is my favorite. I wrap mine with beer and honey after they smoke for 3 hours. I like a dome temp of 250. Good luck and no matter what method you choose they will be great.
